The first Location was is Playa Del Carmen. Our hotel window displayed a view of the ocean coast. This piece is trying to convey nature and tranquility. Oceans are known for providing relaxing sounds and views. This picture was simple to take because the sun provided just enough light to show all the different colors in the water. I liked the similar color palette with the cool tone blues and greens in the ocean, land, and sky. Artist Statement 2:
The second picture was taken in the Bahamas. The waves were rolling onto the shore which provided interestingly different pictures each time. The darker colors as well as the large, rough waves on the water represent the power of the ocean and are meant to convey the mysterious endlessness the water seems to have. The sky was darker this day so it was harder to get a picture with good lighting. Luckily I was able to raise the brightness in photoshop. Artist Statement 3:
The third picture was taken in Spain. There were many beautiful gardens with small ponds in the center. The pond in the picture had groups of turtles laying in the sun on the edge of the pond. This picture was meant to convey the stability of nature showing how all the small turtles could pile on top of each other without falling. There were some shadows from the trees which covered parts of the photo. This was hard to work around because I couldn't remove the shadow. Artist Statement 4:
The fourth picture was again taken in Playa del Carmen. This was a view of a sunset from our hotel. I loved the colors against the seemingly black/dark water. This picture conveys the complexity of life. There may be darkness all around but light will always follow. This picture was difficult to take because the sun was setting so there wasn't a lot of light on the water or land. I was able to bring out the brightness in photoshop and adjust the saturation to bring out more color. Artist Statement 5:
The last picture was taken in Amsterdam. The gardens had small fountains throughout the entire area. I loved the look of the water against the colorfully organized flowers. This picture conveys the harmony in nature. Water and land together making a beautiful picture. This picture was simple to take because there was enough light throughout the picture. There were some people that I had to crop out but no big problems. |
